Introduction:

The Institution is established in the year 1986 at Barpali, the Birth place of Late Genius poet “ Gangadhar Meher” by an eminent and enlightened governing body with member of divergent abilities to meet the challenges of health care education and to carter the need of rural population in particular. The Institution is affiliated & approved by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi, Pharmacy Council of India, New Delhi, Orissa State Board of Pharmacy, Orissa, Sambalpur University, Orissa, & Biju Patnaik University of Technology, Rourkela, Orissa.

The Pharmaceutical College, a pharmacy Institution aims at imparting quality pharmacy education and Programme and forging the youth in to formidable force to carter the need of the nation “Health for All” over a period of two decades, it has come to symbolized truest sprit of dedication to the task of maintaining a standard of pharmacy education which can be started as being second to none.

MODE OF TEACHING
Modern methods of teaching are followed and seminars are organised by eminent resource persons from Industries and Institutes of repute on a regular basis. The more emphasis is given to cover the syllabus of the courses in time with innovative ideas and methodology like class test, seminar & discussion session as extra.

In the year 2003, the Institute has shifted to a new campus situated at Tingipali, 4 K.M. away from Barpali beside N.H. 201. The campus is situated in a single piece of land of 5.52 acre having a nice building, pollution free environment, beautiful and natural surrounding.

Courses offered:
At present T.P.C. is offering 2 years & 3 months Diploma Course in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) & 4 years Degree Course in Pharmacy (B.Pharm) with an intake capacity of 60 in each course and 2 years PG Course in Pharmacy (M.Pharm) in Specialization of Pharmacognosy and Pharmaceutics with an intake capacity of 10 each.
                       

Admission Procedure:
D.Pharm.
The admission procedure for D.Pharm course is followed as per the D. Pharm selection committee appointed by Govt of Orissa and it is carried out by the office of the convenor, Dept. of Pharmacology, S.C.B. Medical college, Cuttack by counseling. Presently, 50 % of total approved seats will be filled by State Govt. and the balance 50% seats are filled by the college on strict merit basis. The date of request and submission of applications, merit list, closing of admission and starting of the academic session are as per the guidelines of State Govt. of Orissa.

B.Pharm.
The admission procedure for B.Pharm course is followed as per the JEE guidelines conducted by Biju Patnaik University of Technology. Seats are allotted on strict merit basis and the date of request and submission of applications, final results of tests, admission list, acceptance by the candidates and closing of admission are in accordance with the test agency. The starting of the academic session is as per the guidelines of the affliating University.

M.Pharm.
The admission procedure for M.Pharm course is followed as per the JEE guidelines and conducted by Biju Patnaik University of Technology. Seats are allotted on strict merit basis and the date of request and submission of applications, final results of tests, admission list, acceptance by the candidates and closing of admission are in accordance with the test agency. The starting of the academic session is as per the guidelines of the afflicting University.

Fees structure:
The fees structure for D.Pharm, B.Pharm and M.Pharm are as per the Fees Structure Committee order set by State Government of Orissa and affiliated University for providing best quality education and training facilities. University fees, if any, will be separately collected as per the University notification from time to time.

The Campus and its facilities :
LABORATORIES
A total 22 nos. of well equipped spacious laboratories of T.P.C, Barpali are designed and set up as per the norms of AICTE and BPUT, with an aim to provide every student the scope to critically examine the theoretical aspects and to develop the required skill. A total 48,250 Sq. ft. built up area is available for the existing courses. Future plan of the Institute is to provide an additional 5, 000 sq. ft built up area in each year for conducting the existing and future courses in the campus.

LIBRARY

Presently, the Institution has an excellent central library with provision for separate staking area and reading hall with adequate space for study in peaceful environment. For faculty separate reading facility is provided. Large number of Text and Reference Books are available for use by students and faculties. The library subscribes a verity of National and International scientific journals to elevate the student’s knowledge in pharmaceutical field. The library is constantly updated with latest books and journals to meet the student requirements.

A total of 2798 number of books with 746 titles and 28 number of National & 5 number of International journals are available.

TRAINING AND PLACEMENT CELL

The College is having one Training and Placement Cell to organise and co-ordinate different Industrial visits, training during the course and placement after Completion of course in various reputed Pharmaceutical units. Since last three years 100% placement facilities is provided by the college.

CANTEEN

There is a refreshment centre within the campus to provide much needed relief to students during leisure.

TRANSPORT

The Institute has two buses to carry faculties and students from Barpali town to college and vice-versa.

ACCOMMODATION

Separate well-furnished hostel for 60 boys and 30 girls are provided by the Institute with basic amenities.

SPORTS & CULTURAL ACTIVITIES

The college is providing facilities for outdoor and indoor games to keep students physically fit and mentally alert. The students are also encouraged to take part in various cultural activities like music, drama, debating, quiz competition, etc.

DRESS CODE:

A specified Dress code has been followed for students to an active feeling and sense of equality among themselves.

SCHOLARSHIP:

The college is having provision for providing scholarship to meritorious and needy students.
